Commentaire

Nupra formation.

Espèce à enroulement lent, tours peu recouvrants, à croissance lente en hauteur et épaisseur. Ombilic peu profond et relativement ouvert, laissant voir les points de division. Section faiblement comprimée, subrectangulaire à elliptique, plus épaisse vers le milieu des flancs légèrement convexes. Rebord ombilical arrondi. Ventre tabulé, creusé d’un sillon médian. Côtes naissant sur le mur ombilical, flexueuses sur le flanc, proverses vers le bord ventral, majoritairement bifurquées avec quelques côtes simples, terminées au bord du sillon par une petite bulla. Proche de Berriasella, mais moins comprimé, à côtes plus fortement projetées sur le ventre avec des tubercules répartis de part et d’autre d’un sillon plus marqué et plus persistant. Les côtes deviennent plus fortes et plus espacées sur la loge d’habitation adulte, marquée par la disparition progressive du sillon ventral, les côtes traversant le ventre, d’abord affaiblies, puis franches, souvent avec une forte inflexion vers l’avant parallèle au tracé du péristome. Formes primitives, plus ou moins comprimées, avec des côtes simples au bord ombilical qui se divisent plus haut sur le flanc. Ventre plat ou creusé d’un sillon au moins à certains stades de croissance. Absence ou combinaison de tubercules ombilicaux, latéraux et latéro-ventraux.

Formes variées tendant à se comprimer, à flancs plat, ventre plat ou creusé d’un sillon. Les formes primitives diffèrent peu des Perisphinctoidea plus anciens, mais quelques genres développent diverses combinaisons de tubercules.
